Editors Message:

The news desk of Metrology News is witnessing an increased flow of press releases whereby products and solutions are being enhanced by Artificial Intelligence (AI). While AI is a fashionable topic throughout the media we ignore it at our peril. Artificial intelligence is already having a significant impact on the manufacturing industry and is expected to play a significantly increasing and important role in the future.

AI is likely to impact manufacturing quality control with AI-powered vision systems inspecting products with a level of precision and speed difficult for humans to match offering improved product quality and defect reductions. AI will also improve process optimization by analyzing vast amounts of data to improve manufacturing processes leading to more efficient production and overall cost savings. AI will also influence human-machine collaboration enhancing the capabilities of workers by providing them with real-time data and insights, making it easier to make informed decisions and work more efficiently.

AI will eventually touch almost every aspect of a manufacturing process including predictive maintenance, robotic automation, data analysis, simulation, and modeling, to name a few. AI has the potential to revolutionize metrology by improving measurement accuracies, automating data analysis, and increasing overall operational efficiencies having far-reaching implications in all industries where precise and reliable measurements are critical.
