Latest X4 Universal Metrology Software Product Line Released
Metrologic Group has announced the release of the latest version of its X4 metrology software product line (V22GA). Industry 4.0 continues to transform manufacturing by driving digitalization, enhancing automation, and boosting efficiency. With the latest software evolution users can complete tasks faster, with greater precision, and fewer errors.
The latest release delivers significant performance improvements. Depending on installed equipment users can expect reduced cycle times, accelerated Inspection Path Planning calculations, and enhanced safety when creating CMM trajectories offline. Metrologic has also expanded compatibility with new interfaces to streamline workflows.
New features and innovations in the latest X4 product line include:
First Article Inspection (FAI) Report: Metrologic understand the challenges of validating new or updated production processes in industries with demanding regulations and process controls to ensure that parts meet specified requirements. The process has been simplified in Metrolog X4 making it easier to include an FAI (First Article Inspection) table into metrology reports.
Improved interface Cor ‘Scan GDT’ command: The ‘Scan PMI’ command has been replaced with ‘Scan GD&T’ to provide a more comprehensive approach to displaying additional GD&T attributes for each feature. The update provides a clearer, more intuitive understanding of the part, all within a single window.
Datum Reference Frame Digestable From CAD: Metrologic continue the work of integrating Data Reference Frame (DRF) support in X4 such that it’s now possible to automtaically import and decode the DRF from CAD.
‘Curves Mode’ For Point Cloud Alignment: Vision systems can generate curve point clouds, which are characterized by points concentrated along the edges of the scanned part. To streamline the alignment of these point clouds with a CAD file, a specialized ‘Curves’ mode has been introduced, designed to complement the existing ‘Surface’ mode. This enhancement makes best-fit point cloud alignment more intuitive and efficient for curve point clouds.
Collision Detection and Avoidance: Metrolog now includes collision detection and avoidance capabilities when disconnected from the machine, ensuring safer operation. The ability to update measurement paths offline while detecting and avoiding potential collisions is a safeguard that helps protect measurement equipment and enhances overall safety.
Reduced Cycle Times For 5-Axes Revo Scanning: To optimize efficiency during scan program execution, the latest version introduces the ability to link scans. This enhancement allows multiple scan measurements to be performed consecutively without raising the probe. By maintaining continuous contact with the material, the need for repeated retraction and re-approach is eliminated improving workflow and reducing cycle times.
Additional Interfaces and Hardware Added
Metrologic continue to deliver on metrology universality and has added support for Hexagon HH-A-H2.5 probes and FARO’s Quantum X FaroArm Series. Extending inline metrology automation application the LMI Gocator 5512 and Precitec CLS2Pro sensors have been added.
