Utilising white light illumination in conjunction with an RGB receiver, the sensor ensures realistic and reproducible colour detection across a wide range of materials and surface conditions. Its performance remains stable even under fluctuating ambient lighting, supporting consistent process control. With a switching frequency of 7 kHz, the P1PF is capable of accurately detecting rapid colour changes, making it ideal for high-speed and dynamic applications.

Multi-Colour Detection in a Single Device

The P1PF sensor enables efficient system integration by allowing up to eight colours to be distinguished using a single device. Two colours can be taught directly on the sensor without the need for additional software, simplifying setup for standalone applications and maintenance tasks. A further six digital outputs can be configured via IO-Link, providing expanded functionality while reducing hardware complexity, installation space and overall system cost. Colour tolerances can also be conveniently parameterised through IO-Link.

Flexible Evaluation for Diverse Requirements

By offering both RGB-based analysis and HSL-based visual configuration, the P1PF provides flexibility in how colour data is interpreted and applied. This dual approach supports precise measurement-driven applications while also enabling intuitive adjustments aligned with human visual perception—an advantage during setup, optimisation and process monitoring.

Real-Time Feedback with Integrated LED Display

A key feature of the sensor is its integrated 9-LED bar graph, which delivers real-time visualisation of detected colours alongside stored reference values. This immediate feedback streamlines commissioning, teach-in procedures and troubleshooting, eliminating the need for external tools. The display also assists in optimising sensor positioning, allowing users to fine-tune distance and alignment for improved measurement accuracy. Users can select between two display modes: one showing the reference values of the two physical switching outputs, and another displaying all eight configured outputs.
