Large-Aperture Ring Light Ideal for Reflective Surfaces

Inspectis AB has announced the launch of a new Large-Aperture Ring Light, HD-124-LA, developed for use with Inspectis’ digital microscopes. In making the announcement, Johan Stormlund, Marketing and Sales Manager, Industrial Applications, said, “Our new Ring Light, HD-124-LA, has 48 LEDs arranged along a ɸ148 mm diameter ring, creating an oblique smooth incident illumination (close to a darkfield). Besides its higher intensity, the larger diameter helps create clear images of shiny surfaces, such as metallic parts or PCBs, at lower magnification ranges.”

The HD-124-LA enables high-angle brightfield illumination, it reduces glare on reflective surfaces and maintains more uniform lighting across the field of view. When combined with segmented lighting, the LA enables better shadow control and enhances surface topography visibility. It is particularly well suited for inspection of solder joints, identifying scratches and defects, and identifying texture variation.

“The large aperture ring light provides homogeneous and soft illumination of highly reflective objects, and improves inspection quality by enabling higher illumination angles, and more uniform lighting, which is especially critical for reflective surfaces and precision optical inspection,” Stormlund added.

The large aperture ring light incorporates high color rendering index (CRI) LED lamps at 5700K color temperature optimized for reproducing true-color images with Inspectis digital microscopes. Its integrated controller with electronic dimmer and brightness indication lamps enables the operator to set the brightness in 5 repeatable levels. For optimal cable management, the ring light is powered directly via the Inspectis digital microscope.
