Hexagon Launches AI-Enhanced OPTIV S Optical CMM
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence has announced the launch of its next-generation OPTIV S optical coordinate measuring machine (CMM). The redesigned platform delivers significant improvements in speed, accuracy and usability while introducing a new generation of AI-assisted measurement technologies that will be released in phases throughout 2026 and 2027.
Designed for manufacturers inspecting complex, high-value components across industries including electronics, medical devices, automotive and precision engineering, OPTIV S combines advanced vision measurement with tactile and multisensor capabilities to help quality teams improve throughput while simplifying inspection workflows.

Fast Auto-Focus: Provides up to 50% faster autofocus performance to further reduce inspection time. (Commercial release 2027)
AI Illumination: Automatically optimizes lighting parameters to improve edge detection while minimizing manual setup and trial-and-error programming. (Commercial release 2027)
