Hexagon Expands Large-Scale Inspection Solutions

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence has announced the expanded availability of the TORO HP horizontal arm coordinate measuring machine (CMM) across Europe and the Americas, bringing a proven large-scale inspection solution to manufacturers seeking to improve quality control while managing cost pressures and production demands. The expansion further strengthens Hexagon’s complete portfolio of horizontal arm CMMs, spanning cost-effective production inspection with TORO HP through to the high-performance BRAVO platform.

Already established in the Chinese market, where hundreds of systems have been deployed in recent years, TORO HP is designed for high-volume manufacturing environments where large components and assemblies require fast, reliable dimensional inspection directly within or alongside production operations.

“Manufacturers today face increasing pressure to maintain quality standards while controlling costs and keeping production moving,” said Gabriele Persichilli, Director Product Management CMM at Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. “TORO HP provides a practical, scalable inspection solution for large-scale manufacturing environments, combining the performance manufacturers expect from a horizontal arm CMM with an accessible cost of ownership, simplified installation and lower operating costs through an air-free design that reduces energy consumption.”

Designed for automotive, and heavy-industry applications, TORO HP supports the inspection of large parts and assemblies where traditional measurement systems may be difficult to integrate into production workflows. Its runway architecture enables easy access to measurement areas, while floor-mounted and flush-floor installation options provide flexibility for different factory layouts.

Built for Production Environments

TORO HP is particularly well-suited for manufacturers seeking to perform inspection closer to production, helping quality teams verify dimensional accuracy without disrupting manufacturing flow.

Key benefits include:

  • Cost-effective horizontal arm measurement for large-scale inspection applications
  • Flexible installation options to accommodate a range of facility requirements
  • No compressed air requirement, reducing operating costs, energy consumption, and maintenance complexity
  • Support for near-line inspection workflows
  • Compatibility with multi-sensor measurement technologies
  • Seamless integration with Hexagon metrology software and sheet metal inspection routines

Reducing Installation Complexity, Energy Consumption and Operating Costs

Unlike many traditional large-scale measurement systems, TORO HP is designed to simplify installation and ownership. The system can be installed with reduced infrastructure requirements, helping manufacturers bring inspection capabilities online more quickly while minimising facility modifications.

TORO HP also operates without compressed air, reducing operating costs and energy consumption while supporting manufacturers’ sustainability objectives.

Expanding Hexagon’s Horizontal Arm Portfolio

The introduction of TORO HP to Europe and the Americas further strengthens Hexagon’s comprehensive portfolio of horizontal arm metrology solutions. Together, TORO HP and BRAVO provide manufacturers with solutions spanning a broad range of accuracy, throughput, and production requirements, from cost-effective, production-focused inspection to the highest-performance metrology applications.

Both platforms support Hexagon’s latest sensing technologies, including the HP-L-10.10 and HP-L-10.10 Lite laser scanners, enabling manufacturers to deploy advanced non-contact measurement capabilities across a wide variety of inspection workflows.

By offering a complete horizontal arm portfolio alongside production-ready inspection capabilities, flexible installation, compressed-air-free operation, and seamless software integration, Hexagon enables manufacturers to select the solution that best fits their production, quality, and investment requirements while maintaining the speed and efficiency demanded by modern manufacturing environments.
