April 2023 Metrology News Magazine

Editors Message:

During this month, our editorial focus was on the growing significance of robotics in production metrology. Robotics holds a central position in the ‘Smart Factory of the Future’, while metrology systems and the production of real-time actionable data are key to eliminating traditional off-line measurement data latency. Enhancing the precision of robotic measuring systems, boosting data density at quicker rates, and implementing software advancements to enhance programming and overall measuring performance are becoming essential areas of focus.

This month we covered the introduction of several new robotic measurement solutions along with software platforms aimed at analyzing and managing the constantly growing critical data streams. There’s also a movement for storing and managing data in the cloud. The trend of automated measurement and inspection systems is persisting as the manufacturing sector continues to invest in automation to tackle skill shortages, enhance quality standards, and minimize costs.

Editorial focussed articles this month included “Automated Dimensional Inspection Systems Increasingly Replacing Manual Processes”; “Increasing Trend For Optical Metrology To Oversee Smart Manufacturing”;  “Measurement Technology Manufacturers Pushing Digitization”; “Plug and Play Measurement Technology Is Within Reach” and “Looking For The ‘Next Big Thing’ In Automated Metrology”.

The annual CONTROL event in Stuttgart is now less than two weeks away. This month we reviewed a few of the new product introductions announced in advance of the show. Metrology News will once again be in attendance bringing daily updates from the show floor on all of the latest industry news and product introductions.

In April, Metrology News sat down with Marc Soucy President of Innovmetric, developer of the Polyworks software platform, for a discussion on how, in the future, ‘Seamlessly Integrated Digital Metrology Data will Empower Manufacturing Enterprises’. The complete library of April articles can be accessed by clicking here.
