Video Metrology and Part Sorting Solutions
Six Sigma Concepts develops and manufactures precision video measurement systems for first article inspection, statistical process control, and 100% inspection. Their InGage software analyzes the backlit ‘shadow’ profile of parts, quickly measuring and recording external dimensions. InGage is utilized in Six Sigma Concepts’ line of inspection and sorting systems. These systems are used by manufacturers and clients in the automotive, aeronautical, electronics, and medical industries.
InGage control software allows quality engineers and machine operators to quickly analyze parts. Data is displayed, stored, and sent for process control in any manufacturing or lab environment. A library of part programs lets operators quickly switch between inspection jobs. Many challenging features — such as small radii, chamfers, arc blends, and threads — are inspected simultaneously. Each inspection takes less than 100 milliseconds and can achieve a live measurement standard deviation below 0.1 microns. The breadth and speed of inspection yields considerable time savings over traditional methods.
Inspection and sorting systems are available in a number of formats and configurations. Different image sizes are available to accommodate both large and small parts. Sorting solutions are available for parts that are self- standing or can lie down. Parts can be rotated to check for out of round, runout, or other nonuniformities. Additionally, smart cameras and sensors can be integrated to check for surface and interior features. Pneumatic blow-offs, as well as actuators, are used to separate parts that pass and fail the inspection criteria. Parts can be manually fed, but systems are often integrated with robot, belt, and bowl feeds.
