Transcat Expands Global Footprint with Acquisition of Costa Rica-Based SCM Metrology
Transcat, Inc. has announced the acquisition of SCM Metrology and Laboratories S.A., marking a significant step in its international growth strategy. The transaction establishes Transcat’s first operational presence in Latin America.
The acquisition, valued at approximately $13 million strengthens Transcat’s ability to support multinational customers operating in highly regulated, high-growth markets. By expanding its service footprint into Central America, the company aims to enhance local calibration capabilities while creating new opportunities for distribution sales linked to service relationships.
SCM Metrology and Laboratories S.A. is an ECA-accredited calibration laboratory operating in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards. The company delivers a comprehensive range of services, including calibration of measuring instruments, metrological assurance, testing and inspection, as well as the sale of measurement equipment. It also offers consulting and training in metrology and quality systems.
Founded over two decades ago, SCM has developed strong partnerships with leading multinational medical device and life sciences manufacturers – many of whom are already key customers or prospects of Transcat. Its established presence provides a strategic platform for further regional expansion.
