Inline Inspection System Sets New Standards In Tube Measurement

PIXARGUS has taken its highly versatile inline inspection system, AllRounDia DV, to the next level, offering an upgraded solution for inspecting tubes, pipes, and hoses. Renowned for its compact design, high capacity, and cost-effectiveness, AllRounDia DV now boasts new hardware and software enhancements, allowing it to inspect round products with diameters up to 70 mm. Leveraging extensions and software advancements from the successful ProfilControl 7 technology, this two-in-one system can now perform continuous inline inspections of both the surface and diameter of tubes and hoses during extrusion. It’s an efficient, high-performance defect detection system that’s also budget-friendly.

Along with the system’s compact design, time-saving plug & play functionality, and the ability to inspect both surface and dimensions with a single sensor, the new features boost its defect detection capabilities. The upgraded system also provides an expanded range of analysis tools, automated processes, and enhanced defect recognition. According to PIXARGUS Sales Manager Michael Frohn, “The upgrade offers more modules and significantly improved performance, giving users everything they need in a compact, small-footprint system.”

Live Images and Enhanced Views

One of the standout features of the upgrade is the option to pair AllRounDia DV with a separate monitor. The 21.5-inch screen, much larger than the integrated display, offers more space for detailed views of identified defects. The upgrade also enhances the graphical user interface, making it easier to identify and analyze defects in real-time. With the integration of ProfilControl 7 technology, the software now offers a substantially broader range of analysis functions. A significant improvement is the ability to display defects in live camera images, allowing for a more detailed, real-time assessment.

High-Precision Defect Analysis – Improving Production Quality

AllRounDia DV’s new version offers enhanced defect tracking. Users can now view the last 20 defects detected during production, an upgrade from the previous limit of five. Additionally, operators can now identify which camera recorded each defect, making it easier to pinpoint the exact location of the problem. Michael Frohn emphasizes, “With more detailed information on every defect, we can better track and analyze them, ultimately improving production quality.”

Reliable Defect Recognition with the New Replay Function

The new replay function enables operators to quickly and accurately identify defects, even at high production speeds. By replaying camera images, operators can more easily evaluate the surface, roughness, and characteristics of defects, leading to better identification during production.

Simplified Coil Changes – The New Coil Change Module Sets a New Standard

The AllRounDia DV also now includes an integrated section tracking feature. This feature automatically generates defect or batch reports for each produced batch, making it easier to track product defects during the extrusion process. By linking AllRounDia DV to other production equipment like cutters or coilers via interfaces such as OPC-UA or direct I/O wiring, the system can automatically assign defects to the current coil and calculate defect positions relative to the coil’s head end. When the product is downcoiled for further processing, the system can precisely locate defects and remove faulty material, saving both time and money.

Dependable Defect Recognition with Encoder Integration

With the introduction of an encoder option, the AllRounDia DV system now better handles varying extrusion line speeds. The encoder enables the system to adjust defect calculations based on line speed, ensuring precise defect detection regardless of production speed. This enhancement ensures that the system consistently maintains an accurate resolution for defect detection.

Tracking Operator Settings For Greater Transparency

The new SCADA Log module enables operators to track and document any changes made to system settings. This feature provides clear visibility into modifications such as parameter adjustments or changes to defect size thresholds, making it easier to track alterations and ensure consistency across the production process.

Reliable 2-in-1 Inspection for Round Products

The AllRounDia DV system offers continuous, 100% inspection of both surface and diameter/ovality of hoses and tubes, even on glossy or translucent surfaces. Its ability to switch the diameter measurement on and off as needed makes it a versatile choice for both new and existing production lines. As a cost-effective dual-purpose system, it provides the perfect solution for round-product applications.

The software upgrade has made AllRounDia DV part of the ProfilControl 7 product family, expanding its capabilities with additional system extensions. Whether integrating with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) or further enhancing defect analysis, AllRounDia DV can now support nearly every module available in its larger counterpart.

Proven in Practice – Successful Testing at Becker Plastics

At Becker Plastics in Datteln, Germany, a leader in plastic and composite pipe production, AllRounDia DV was put to the test during extrusion processes. Pierre Baranowski, Head of Operations at Becker Plastics, highlighted the system’s importance: “It’s crucial for us to identify defects early in the production process and take immediate action. The PIXARGUS system provides the best possible support for our quality control efforts.” After successful pilot tests, Becker Plastics has adopted the AllRounDia DV system to ensure high-quality production standards.

In summary, PIXARGUS has taken its AllRounDia DV system to new heights, offering enhanced defect detection, improved performance, and greater versatility. This compact and cost-effective solution is now even more powerful, making it an ideal choice for manufacturers in need of reliable, high-precision inline inspection of round products.
