Enhanced Mobile AR Brings Inspection Innovation Directly To Smart Manufacturing Environments
At the Control international trade fair for quality assurance, Visometry has reinforced its leadership in industrial augmented reality by unveiling version 2.4 of its mobile inspection solution, Twyn. Designed for use with a tablet, Twyn 2.4 further streamlines on-site quality checks, offering users a more agile and immediate way to inspect and adjust components directly in the production environment.
Twyn has established itself as a go-to AR tool for quality professionals seeking to inspect components and complex assemblies throughout the manufacturing process. Using computer vision and automatic object registration, Twyn aligns physical parts with their digital twins and CAD specifications in real time. Now, with the launch of Twyn 2.4 Visometry introduces a host of upgrades that enhance flexibility, speed, and ease of use on the shop floor.
Key Features of Twyn 2.4
Assisted Deviation Detection is one of the standout innovations in the new release. This feature highlights discrepancies between CAD data and the actual part in real time—even without prior model preparation in Twyn Studio. Edges or features that deviate from spec are instantly displayed on the tablet, allowing inspectors to focus on key issues immediately. This accelerates assessment, particularly for parts with prominent contours.
In another significant upgrade, inspection viewpoints can now be configured and modified directly within the Twyn View app on the tablet itself—right at the object and in the actual inspection setting. This is especially useful in constrained spaces where ideal camera positions are difficult to achieve. The result: fewer setup steps and reduced potential for error, streamlining the inspection workflow significantly.
Stationary Object Tracking is now enabled by default in Twyn 2.4. This feature enhances stability when inspecting large components that cannot be fully captured by a tablet’s camera in a single view. By combining iPad SLAM sensors with model-based tracking, Twyn maintains accurate object alignment—even when users move around the object or scan areas with limited geometric detail. The result is a more reliable CAD-to-reality comparison.
To support its growing global user base, Visometry has expanded Twyn 2.4’s documentation and tutorials, now available in 14 languages, ensuring accessible and effective onboarding for quality teams worldwide.
“Across quality assurance, production, and assembly, the demand for technologies that make processes faster, more flexible, and digitally connected is greater than ever,” said Dr. Harald Wuest, CEO of Visometry. “Twyn 2.4 delivers exactly that. With this augmented reality solution, we’re helping our customers advance with real-world impact.”
With version 2.4, Twyn further solidifies its reputation as a cutting-edge solution for modern, mobile quality inspection—bringing AR innovation directly to the heart of smart manufacturing environments.
