Third Dimension Strengthens Technical Expertise With Application Engineering Team

Precision measurement company, Third Dimension, has deepened its technical capabilities and strengthened its customer support resource with the creation of a new Application Engineering team.

The manufacturers of the GapGun and Vectro handheld and robot-deployed non-contact gauging systems have appointed three specialist engineers to bolster Third Dimension’s technical expertise and widen the company’s global reach.

The trio of new recruits will have responsibility for providing pre-sale and post-sale support for Third Dimension customers and will work with distributors to enhance existing technical support. They will also work closely with customers to understand their key challenges, in a move that will strengthen the company’s knowledge of changing demand and requirements in the automotive, aerospace, energy, and consumer goods manufacturing industries.

Third Dimension’s new recruits are:

➤ Composite manufacturing expert Gerard Tamayo, whose experience working at a leading OEM in the aerospace industry will support Third Dimension’s technical expertise and product development in this market.

➤ University of Bristol Mechanical Engineering graduate Daniel Sherwood, who will explore new applications for Third Dimension products in liaison with the company’s software and hardware engineers.

➤ Chemical Engineering specialist Jake Tivey, who brings expertise from a Master’s degree at Birmingham University and experience of the energy, mining and manufacturing sectors to the role.

Francois Froment, Third Dimension Chief Executive Officer, said: “At Third Dimension we pride ourselves on our ability to deliver state-of-the-art solutions to our customers in automotive, aerospace, energy, and consumer goods manufacturing sectors. We constantly strive to push the boundaries of precision measurement, and our decision to create this new Application Engineering team reflects our commitment to adding value for our customers. With varied backgrounds across manufacturing applications, Gerard, Daniel, and Jake will each bring a fresh perspective that will help us to tackle the most sophisticated metrology challenges with our hand-held and automated measurement systems.”

Third Dimension’s GapGun and Vectro products enable OEMs, Tier 1s and Tier 2s to manufacture to tighter tolerances, carry out quality checks quickly and keep an audit trail on all measurements, providing the assurance companies need to advance manufacturing.
