Manchester Metrology, the foremost independent provider of portable metrology equipment and measuring services in the UK, has recently disclosed its acquisition of Apex Metrology, a specialist in CMM services located in Loanhead, Scotland.
Paul Bulman, CEO of Manchester Metrology, expressed his longstanding connection with Apex Metrology, emphasizing their collaboration dating back to his tenure at Faro Technologies in 2005. After departing Faro in 2008, Paul Bulman continued to work closely with Brian Young, the founder of Apex Metrology, and his team, providing support for Apex’s portable inspection services and demonstrations in the UK while simultaneously advancing Manchester Metrology.
The Apex Metrology team has achieved substantial success over the past two decades, specializing in CMM calibration, training, and retrofits. They have served numerous blue-chip companies alongside a loyal repeat customer base. Apex Metrology’s offerings encompass calibration and measurement services for CMM and portable metrology equipment, adhering to ISO10360 standards accredited by UKAS to ISO17025. The employment of engineers trained in the OEM Metrology sector and the establishment of robust OEM supplier relationships have fortified their position in the market.
As the founders of Apex Metrology plan their retirement, the acquisition aligns with Manchester Metrology’s strategic decision to expand its portable metrology business in Scotland and enhance Apex’s services in both northern and southern England. Brian Young will continue to contribute to the transition, supporting employees and customers. While Apex Metrology will retain its own brand with Manchester Metrology’s backing, the latter will also maintain its distinct brand with the support of Apex Metrology. Paul Bulman envisions a profound and positive impact on both companies, anticipating an enlarged product and services portfolio for customers across a broader geographical footprint.
Brian Young expressed confidence in the collaboration, citing his long-standing relationship with Paul and the Manchester Metrology team. He looks forward to being a part of the next phase in the development of both businesses.
