Concept Metrology Acquisitions Strengthen Capabilities and Reach Milestones

Concept, a USA Midwest leading source for advanced manufacturing solutions, has announced that its recently acquired companies, American Calibration and Inspection Engineering have reached milestones in expanding their offerings to precision manufacturers across the United States.

Acquired in September 2023, these Midwest-based businesses have served customers for 31 and 47 years, respectively. Owners Todd Gibson and Michael Bergmann joined Concept’s leadership team, each bringing unique skills and insights to a business that now boasts national service coverage, distribution across eighteen states, and showrooms and labs in seven states.

“Our customers range from Fortune 500 manufacturers to small businesses. Serving them well takes the right culture and operating standards,” said Concept CEO Andrew Hecker. “Today, we’re adopting Concept’s logo at American Calibration and Inspection Engineering, reflecting the hard work our teams have completed to bring customers our best, every day,” he continued. “We’ve collaborated to adopt best practices from every Concept company, share resources, standardize operating procedures and adopt enterprise software, which benefits customers across our market area.”

Based near Chicago, American Calibration serves both Fortune 500 customers and small manufacturers, offering more than 350 types of accredited calibration (among the largest ISO 17025 scopes available) with the highest precision available. Reaching this milestone, Gibson commented, “Our business is stronger than ever. We’ve gained momentum in joining Concept, bringing what we do well to a business with a strong operational track record. Together, we have a solid foundation to add growth.”

Inspection Engineering, with five facilities throughout Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania, covers nine states, offers precision measurement services and equipment. Bergmann noted, “I looked for a partner and found one in Concept that shares our values in serving customers the right way.  We have a passion for helping customers grow their businesses, with our knowledgeable team, training and services. We’re stronger as a part of this larger team.”

These acquisitions, and the subsequent adoption of best practices, are part of a strategic plan to cement Concept’s position as the Midwest’s top source for advanced manufacturing solutions and deepen its functional expertise in calibration services, precision measurement, machining, automation, and additive manufacturing.

Concept CEO Andrew Hecker explained, “It’s exciting to see potential become reality when businesses come together.  With a culture that values good ideas no matter the source, our customers win as we adopt best practices and have our talented team collaborate across the enterprise,” he continued. “Changing a logo by itself is easy, but when it reflects the same commitment to service excellence, it means that much more.”
