Innovalia and VDMA Partner to Launch Industrial Data Space Portal for Machinery Sector

Innovalia Association and VDMA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate on the deployment, operation and promotion of an Industrial Data Space Service Portal for the machinery & equipment manufacturing industry. The Data Space portal will facilitate and accelerate the adoption of data-driven digital services and applications enabled by trusted, secure and interoperable data sharing.

The agreement combines VDMA’s sectorial leadership and governance role with Innovalia’s data space technical and operational know-how. Together, the two organizations will offer a reference portal to access a set of trusted resources that the ecosystem could use to make machinery and equipment manufacturing industrial data work.

The portal is designed to serve as a neutral single entry point for the machinery and equipment manufacturing sector to facilitate effective and efficient 360-degree vertical and horizontal data integration based on international standards. Building upon Manufacturing-X port design patterns, it will help stakeholders discover intelligent applications, high-quality data products, interoperable data space providers, trusted machinery and equipment builders, and success stories that unlock data for AI. The portal will support first conversations and help industrial companies to discover relevant partners, assess their readiness for data space technologies and participation in data space ecosystems.

The portal will allow machinery and equipment manufacturing organisations to better understand their digital readiness, position themselves and their products, solutions and services within the ecosystem and discover practical examples of industrial data-powered collaboration and value creation.

In addition, the portal will provide the ecosystem trusted services for data discovery and access to a wide range of high-quality data catalogues, helping companies connect with relevant partners and navigate the first steps in establishing their data space service ecosystems.

The cooperation is intended to support growth, adoption and scalability of trusted industrial data sharing practices across the machinery and equipment ecosystem. By combining governance, ecosystem outreach and operational delivery, the partners aim to accelerate the adoption of industrial data spaces and create a practical environment for collaboration and value creation.

Innovalia Association is an associated, private and independent technological centre headquartered in Bilbao, Spain focused on research & innovation, digital transformation solutions and the delivery of advanced knowledge transfer, technology development and training services in digital and industrial sectors.
