Voice-Enabled Robot Programming and Control Application Launched

The Innovation team at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe has announced that it has launched the worldwide availability of CoboVox, a cutting-edge voice-enabled programming and control application for robots—an industry first.

Certified by Universal Robots and compatible with most end effectors, CoboVox is an intuitive programming platform that allows operators to control collaborative robots with natural voice commands and simple language instructions. The performance of CoboVox is not impacted by accents, and it even detects synonyms of commonplace terms.

Installed and voice-activated in just a few minutes, CoboVox eliminates the costs and complexity of programming robots with other approaches, such as 3D vision systems, simulation-based offline programming, and machine learning. Technicians do not need to have any extensive robot programming experience to operate CoboVox.

Recent tests with UR robots show that CoboVox can reduce programming times by up to 43%.

“CoboVox is unlocking tremendous efficiency and cost savings for manufacturers looking to benefit from the potential robots offer, particularly in hypercompetitive markets crippled by a tight labor market,” explained Bahadur Ibrahimov, head of Robotics at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. “CoboVox helps to build production capacity—all while slashing equipment idle times. Furthermore, upskilling technicians on voice-activated robot programming can be an effective strategy to assign workers to more meaningful work and increase employee retention.”
