Inline Optical Inspection Specialist PIXARGUS Acquired By CiTEX Group

The measurement technology manufacturer PIXARGUS has grown from a startup to a global player in optical inline quality control. Now the aim is to increasingly enter the US and Asian markets under the umbrella of CiTEX Holding GmbH.

All major manufacturers of automotive rubber profiles worldwide use PIXARGUS systems for surface monitoring and dimensional measurement. The successful ProfilControl series from the measurement technology specialist is already a bestseller and in its 7th generation. The inline systems are now used in 24-hour, 7-day manufacturing operations in various industries. In just under 25 years, the former RWTH Aachen University startup has become the leading provider in the field of optical inline quality control for extrusions. As a subsidiary of the CiTEX Group, PIXARGUS now wants to expand and grow.

Expansion of USA and Asian Markets

In the CiTEX Group, strong, highly specialized partners cooperate in extrusion technology. Where PIXARGUS brings its profound know-how for optical profile inspection, the CiTEX subsidiary iNOEX has access to a global customer base and a strong sales network in the US and Asia. With its X-ray and radar technology, iNOEX is now a leading expert in the measurement of round products. The main focus here is on checking the pipe walls. In addition, PIXARGUS offers AllRounDia-DualVision, a successful camera inspection system for external control of the surface and dimensions of pipes and hoses in a sensor head. With the combined power of its subsidiaries, the CiTEX Group is now significantly expanding its position as a leading provider of sensor and measurement technology on the extrusion line.

Quality Data From PIXARGUS For Data Science

Another asset of the measurement technology experts from PIXARGUS is their special data expertise. With the developed software and its intelligent testing algorithms, the company’s optical systems work fully networked in the production line and provide valuable quality data in real time. The PIXARGUS systems also integrate third-party sensors, transfer their data to subsequent processes, and enable complex automation processes such as control loops. With the accumulated data know-how, the CiTEX Group wants to further expand research and development in the area of data science. This is where future-oriented and cloud-based solutions for extrusion are to be created.

Incubator for innovations

PIXARGUS is now a wholly owned subsidiary of CiTEX Holding GmbH. CiTEX Holding is committed to promoting and developing innovative, cross-sector technologies for the industry with a particular focus on extrusion. The holding sees itself as a platform provider for its highly specialized subsidiaries and as an incubator for innovations.

Dr. Ralph Klose, CO-CEO of CiTEX Holding GmbH, sums up the merger with PIXARGUS like this. “PIXARGUS has in-depth knowledge of product development and consulting, particularly in the automotive and profile market segments. Together we will be able to provide our customers with holistic support throughout the entire automation cycle in the future.”

PIXARGUS Managing Director René Beaujean puts it this way: “PIXARGUS is now in a strategically optimal starting position in the CiTEX company environment. We have created the ideal basis to jointly exploit future and growth opportunities for all sides.”
