Fully Connected Ultrasonic Flaw Detector Launched
Waygate Technologies has unveiled the Krautkrämer USM 100, a handheld ultrasonic testing (UT) device which takes accurate and repeatable ultrasonic inspections to the next level. In addition to market-leading UT capabilities, the Krautkrämer USM 100 sets new standards in ergonomics, connectivity and ruggedness, making it the go-to solution for users aiming to increase overall efficiency in their quality control.
“Our ultrasonic testing technology has always had the reputation of being among the best in the NDT industry. The Krautkrämer USM 100 continues this legacy and adds a product package that is uncontested in its lightweight design and digital capabilities”, said Gregor Wolf, general manager of Ultrasound at Waygate Technologies. “Next to providing the best in ultrasonic testing capabilities, we wanted to develop a conventional flaw detector that is more customizable and easy to use. We are confident that the USM 100 will provide UT testing experts with a powerful tool while also reaching entirely new users and help them utilize the latest in ultrasonic inspection technology.”
Enabling operators to increase both the amount of inspections as well as the efficiency of their testing has been a guiding principle for Waygate Technologies’ engineers. As a result, user-friendliness is deeply embedded in the DNA of the Krautkrämer USM 100: It presents operators with a modern and intuitive interface with smartphone-like functionality, which additionally reduces training time. The 7” high-resolution LCD display is glove-compatible and can be used under any lighting and weather conditions. Its low weight, various carrying options and the ability to switch between left- or right-handed operations further contribute to its well-balanced ergonomics.
The USM 100 offers superior digital features such as cloud-based data and fleet management, remote calibration and the ability to customize the device with apps available on the inspectionworks.com public app store. Thanks to its connectivity options, processes and reports can be streamlined and inspection data can more easily be accessed, shared and analyzed – resulting in greater testing transparency and ultimately in better product quality.
With its exceptionally rugged design which is drop and vibration tested and has an IP67 rating, the Krautkrämer USM 100 can withstand the toughest conditions and can be used for a broad spectrum of industrial inspection applications: With its excellent software and hardware capabilities the new device performs exceptionally well in the field of weld inspection where cross-segment requirements and a great variety of materials are the main challenges. It also offers dedicated features to meet the multifaceted field of composite inspection such as complex wave propagation and high attenuation. Finally, its ergonomics make it the ideal solution for physically challenging applications for example in corrosion and railway inspection where access to the inspection site is difficult or the operator is required to move permanently between different locales.
The Krautkrämer USM 100 comes complete in a rugged and airtight case which holds all important accessories and additional equipment.
