Metrology for Digital Transformation – Online Event

EURAMET, the European Association of National Metrology Institutes, fosters the strategic digital transformation of metrology in line with both the aims of the European Commission to achieve a fair, competitive and digitally advanced economy, as well as the specific needs of EURAMET’s members.

To support the topic and the engagement with stakeholders in the area, EURAMET is organising a series of free online sessions promoting recent advancements in many fields including – data management, digital processes & technologies and machine learning & artificial intelligence.

Session overview:

Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

Thursday 23 September 2021 (13:30 – 15:30 CEST)

This session addresses the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in calibration labs, science and industry. Presentations will cover reliability and trustworthiness of AI and ML methods. The session will be completed by insights and learnings from the application of uncertainty-aware machine learning in industrial sensor networks.

Digital Technologies in Industrial Measurements

Friday, 24 September 2021 (10:00 – 12:00 CEST)

This session presents some examples of digital measuring instruments in industrial applications. Presentations will cover the metrological traceability of measurement results to the international system of units as well as practical considerations. Two examples for the calibration of digital measuring instruments will be presented that were developed in a recent European research project.

Digital Processes in the Quality Infrastructure: The Digital Calibration Certificate Contribution

Wednesday, 29 September 2021 (10:00 – 12:00 CEST)

This session will focus on the topic of digital calibration certificates (DCCs), especially on the needs for a digital version of a well established analogue certificate, its fundamental requirements and the basic structure. In addition, information will be given on how to represent metrological data using the digital system of units (D-SI) and how to validate the data using an online server. The session will be completed by demonstrating how DCC and D-SI could be integrated into an automated system for a (smart) overhead crane as used to load and unload containers in harbours.
