IdentifEYE Dynamic Robotic Labelling System Utilises 3D Vision

IdentifEYE, from Loop Technology, is an intelligent vision and robotic system than accurately scans and applies labels to randomly shaped and positioned packages at a rate of up to 2,400 labels per hour. The system is stated to be the industry’s first 6-axis robotic labelling and over-labelling system.

IdentifEYE uses 3D vision to scan a package and its label. The system uses the acquired data to request a replacement final mile label from an external or internal source.

IdentifEYE prints and applies the label to the package using a robot and dynamic label applicator for high accuracy positioning. Any shipping data on an existing label is obscured by the new label with the systems overlabelling functionality. IdentifEYE is a flexible system that can be adapted to apply labels on virtually anything with a 3D profile.

Dynamic Label Application

3D imaging enables the robot to match the surface orientation of the product, adapting to each individual product as it comes down the line, ensuring every contact made is in the correct position.

Intelligent Feature Detection

The 3D vision stage can recognise package features to either avoid them such as where label placement would be unwanted or pinpoint them such as barcodes for overlabelling. The label applicator is capable of handling packages with complex 3D profiles in variable orientations and positions on the moving conveyor.

Label Placement Accuracy

The high level of label placement accuracy (5mm) ensures any shipping data on any existing label is obscured by the new label with the systems overlabelling functionality.
