Apera AI Expands 4D Vision Platform with Major Updates

Apera AI has announced a comprehensive update across its 4D Vision ecosystem, introducing Apera Vue 9.51, the latest release of its Forge no-code simulation platform, and expanded VuePort camera models. Together, the updates strengthen Apera’s mission to eliminate “robot blindness” and deliver smarter, faster, and more reliable vision-guided automation to manufacturing floors.

The release focuses on three key themes, faster calibration, simpler deployment, and greater scalability, reflecting Apera’s ongoing efforts to make 4D Vision more accessible and adaptable for industrial users.

Vue 9.51: Precision Calibration and Simplified Configuration

The latest version of Apera’s flagship 4D Vision software, Vue 9.51, brings notable enhancements to robot calibration accuracy and de-racking configuration, aimed at improving deployment efficiency and operational reliability.

Enhanced Robot Calibration: Vue 9.51 introduces an upgraded hand-eye calibration workflow that provides deeper insight into accuracy performance. The software now generates detailed histograms showing calibration results across all sample locations, offering users a clearer understanding of accuracy distribution within the robot’s vision region. This enhanced visibility allows manufacturers to fine-tune setups and ensure consistently precise picking operations.

Streamlined De-Racking Pipeline: A new De-Racking (Single Rack) Pipeline simplifies configuration for Eye-in-Hand vision applications, where robots pick items stacked in a single row or column. This workflow streamlines setup and reduces programming time, particularly valuable for applications such as part unloading, bin picking, or machine tending.

Additional Software Enhancements

  • Updated Part Selection Interface: New occlusion controls provide finer management of pickability in partially obstructed environments.

  • Performance and Stability Improvements: Backend refinements continue to boost overall responsiveness and ease of use.

Closing the Gap Between Simulation and the Factory Floor

The company’s Apera Forge platform, a no-code environment for AI training, simulation, and vision solution design, also receives significant updates, focused on accelerating the transition from virtual design to real-world deployment.

Seamless Forge-to-Vue Deployment: In a major usability improvement, trained assets can now be deployed directly from Forge to the vision controller without requiring support intervention. This enables rapid iteration and deployment, reducing commissioning time and allowing manufacturers to move from design to operation more efficiently.

Expanded CAD Tools and Optimization: Forge now supports .STP files alongside .STL, offering an integrated CAD viewer and optimization tool. Users can preview, decimate, and export CAD models directly within Forge — including gripper meshes — for faster Autopilot operation and accurate collision geometry within Apera Vue.

Further Forge Enhancements

  • Automated Training Notifications: Email alerts notify users upon AI training completion.

  • Copy and Duplicate Tools: Parts, grippers, pick points, and full vision solutions can be quickly replicated to streamline design iteration.

  • Simulation with CAD Environments: Enhanced simulation tools visualize collisions with fences and obstacles for improved safety validation.

  • Dark Mode: A new interface option tailored for user comfort during long design sessions.

Expanding the Vision Envelope

Apera’s VuePort series, pre-calibrated 12MP stereo camera pairs that form the foundation of its 4D Vision systems, now includes new Large (L) and Large Tall (LT) models. These additions expand the available field of view for applications involving large parts, deep bins, or wide workspaces, offering manufacturers greater flexibility when scaling up robot vision deployments.

Empowering Smarter Robotics Through Vision

The combined updates reinforce Apera AI’s strategy of integrating AI, simulation, and 4D Vision into a cohesive platform for robotic perception. By simplifying calibration, bridging simulation with field deployment, and extending vision scalability, Apera continues to position its technology at the forefront of intelligent automation.
