Marposs Revolutionizing Gear Manufacturing Marposs M62 Flex

The electrification of conventional powertrains and the development of new electric drive units is also involving gear manufacturing. Electrified transmissions are subject to several challenges and requirements. Notably, the number of gear wheels is significantly reduced in electric vehicles due to the use of one or two-speed reducers instead of the classic manual or twin-clutch gearboxes.

The Advantages of Area-Based Surface Measurement

Roughness has been measured in manufacturing industries for decades, mostly on the profile. In the meantime, however, there is already an international standard that provides specifications for surface roughness measurement. ISO 25178 specifies three-dimensional texture parameters, operators, applicable technology and calibration requirements for the non-contact measurement method.

Finding The Balance When Automating Additive Manufacturing

Across the manufacturing industry, automation has helped enable low-cost, high-volume production by reducing operator input, improving part consistency and increasing productivity. In AM too, automation can lower cost per part and improve return on investment (ROI) for users, but the specific processes that are most worthy of automation will depend on how a manufacturer uses AM technology.
