Tri-Mode 3D Laser Scanner Delivers High-Precision with Onboard Computing

A new generation of 3D scanning capability has arrived with the launch of EinScan Rigil, the world’s first Tri-Mode 3D scanner offering integrated wireless workflow, onboard computing, and hybrid light technology. Developed by SHINING 3D, a company with over two decades of experience in metrology-grade 3D scanning solutions, EinScan Rigil is designed to serve professional users in demanding industrial applications delivering high-resolution, metrology-grade 3D data with remarkable flexibility and portability.

Three Light Sources for Versatile Scanning

At the heart of EinScan Rigil’s capability is its hybrid illumination system, enabling users to scan a wide range of objects with varying surface properties and sizes:

19+19 Crossed Blue Laser Lines: Fast, high-throughput scanning for larger components with high accuracy.

7 Parallel Blue Laser Lines: Precision-focused for capturing intricate geometry and fine detail.

Infrared VCSEL Technology: Enables marker-free scanning for medium to large parts, even in challenging environments.

These light sources are paired with two dedicated camera systems, allowing for seamless transitions between scanning modes – even within a single workflow. This eliminates the need to choose between speed and detail, as both can now be captured in tandem.

Tri-Mode Operation Unlocks Portability and Performance

EinScan Rigil introduces three scanning workflows that cater to different user needs and environments:

Standalone Mode: Scanning and processing are performed directly on the scanner using its onboard CPU, RAM, and AMOLED touchscreen—ideal for mobile work.

Wireless PC Mode: Utilizing Wi-Fi 6, this mode offers real-time wireless data transfer and leverages the computing power of a connected PC for more complex tasks.

Wired PC Mode: Maintains high performance in data-dense applications or constrained network environments via a direct cable connection.

This flexibility makes Rigil particularly well-suited to engineers who need to capture detailed 3D data on-site without compromising performance.

Marker-Free Scanning and Outdoor Compatibility

One of the standout features is marker-free blue laser scanning, made possible by a hybrid tracking algorithm that combines laser and infrared data. This approach offers the quality of laser scanning without the time-consuming task of placing and removing markers.

Furthermore, the scanner’s ambient light resistance, due to both laser and VCSEL projectors, allows for reliable operation in outdoor sunlight, expanding the range of possible applications.

High-Resolution, Texture-Rich 3D Models

With a volumetric accuracy of up to 0.04 + 0.06 mm/m and geometric resolution of 0.05 mm, EinScan Rigil meets the high demands of metrology-grade inspection. A built-in 5MP color camera enables texture capture for realistic, high-fidelity models, supporting downstream processes such as design iteration, reverse engineering, and simulation.

Rigil is also optimized for scanning dark, shiny, and reflective surfaces, a common challenge in automotive and manufacturing contexts, without requiring surface preparation.

The scanner features a compact and powerful computing system with:

 – 8-core 2.4GHz processor

 – 32GB DDR5 RAM

 – 1TB SSD storage

 – Dual 6000mAh swappable batteries

 – 6.4″ 2K AMOLED touchscreen

Complementing the hardware is EXScan Rigil, a dedicated PC software designed specifically for the EinScan Rigil scanner, covering the full spectrum of advanced professional workflows including scanning, data modification, closed surface generation, model editing, exporting and sharing. When paired with the EinScan Rigil scanner, it delivers a seamless, flexible, and portable scanning experience that combines stability and high-quality results.

Target Applications: Automotive Aftermarket and Beyond

While the EinScan Rigil is particularly tailored for the automotive aftermarket where part digitization, customization, and quality are key and also fits seamlessly into industries such as aerospace, energy, electronics, and medical manufacturing.

Whether it’s capturing body panels, reverse engineering components, or documenting wear and tear, Rigil’s blend of speed, detail, and mobility offers an all-in-one solution for complex, real-world scanning needs.
