SHINING 3D Expands Industrial 3D Scanning Range with New Metrology Systems

SHINING 3D has announced the introduction of two new additions to its industrial metrology portfolio – the OptimScan Q9 and FreeScan Omni Lite – further strengthening its strategy to deliver flexible, scalable digital inspection solutions to users worldwide. The launch reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to providing a broader spectrum of metrology technologies that support digitalization initiatives across multiple stages of the manufacturing lifecycle.

With the introduction of these systems, the OptimScan Q series and FreeScan Omni series now offer a more structured product hierarchy. Flagship models continue to define performance benchmarks, while the new OptimScan Q9 and FreeScan Omni Lite create more accessible entry points for industrial users. This approach enables manufacturers to adopt metrology solutions aligned with their current operational requirements while retaining the ability to scale capabilities as inspection demands evolve.

Both new scanners are built on the same core technology platform as their higher-tier counterparts, maintaining industrial-grade measurement integrity while optimizing configuration and cost-performance balance. This ensures users can benefit from proven metrology performance while addressing practical considerations such as budget, workflow integration, and application-specific requirements.

FreeScan Omni series focuses on mobility

The OptimScan Q series comprises fixed blue LED 3D scanners designed for high-precision inspection, delivering accuracy levels of up to 0.005 mm. Certified to VDI/VDE 2634 and ISO 10360 standards, the systems provide reliable and repeatable measurement results suitable for demanding applications. Typical use cases include precision manufacturing environments such as aerospace, electronics, electrical components, and cultural heritage preservation, where accuracy and repeatability are critical.

In contrast, the FreeScan Omni series focuses on mobility and on-site inspection flexibility. Supporting scan-to-inspect workflows directly on the device, these handheld systems combine portability with certified measurement performance under VDI/VDE 2634 and ISO 10360. This makes them particularly well suited for large-scale or in-situ inspection tasks across industries including automotive, heavy equipment, energy, construction machinery, and general industrial manufacturing.

SHINING 3D has also emphasized that customers adopting the OptimScan Q9 and FreeScan Omni Lite will receive the same level of software capability and support provided with flagship systems. This includes access to full-featured scanning software, technical support, training resources, and warranty coverage. By maintaining consistent service standards across its portfolio, the company aims to ensure reliable long-term performance and user confidence regardless of system tier.

According to Niels, Vice General Manager of Shining3D Technology GmbH, the launch reflects the company’s continued focus on customer-driven innovation. Through modular system architecture, scalable performance, and consistent support infrastructure, SHINING 3D aims to enable more organizations to accelerate their adoption of digital metrology and advance their digital transformation strategies.
