Next-Generation PACS Platform for Non-Destructive Testing Data Management Launched

DÜRR NDT has introduced instaNDT, a next-generation Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) purpose-built for non-destructive testing (NDT) applications. Designed to combine traditional PACS functionality with modern enterprise-grade features, instaNDT offers a flexible, web-based platform for managing, sharing, and analyzing inspection data across multiple modalities and teams.

At its core, instaNDT centralizes all NDT image data on a secure server accessible anytime, anywhere. The system supports DICONDE-compliant data from radiographic (RT), ultrasonic (UT), eddy current (ET), magnetic particle (MT), and visual (VT) inspections — as well as supplementary files such as documents and photographs. Users can organize data using either a conventional file-folder structure or a traditional PACS hierarchical view, with full metadata visibility, intuitive search, and an integrated image viewer featuring histogram analysis for optimized image evaluation.

Going beyond standard PACS functionality, instaNDT introduces image versioning, allowing users to annotate and modify images while maintaining a complete, non-destructive record of all revisions and user actions — a critical advantage for traceability, collaboration, and auditability in industrial inspection workflows.

instaNDT also delivers enterprise-level control and scalability, enabling administrators to define organizational structures, manage users and permissions, and configure role-based access for uploading, viewing, or editing inspection data. Temporary access links allow secure sharing of images with external stakeholders, even without system accounts.

Out of the box, instaNDT integrates seamlessly with DÜRR NDT’s D-Tect X imaging software for streamlined digital radiography workflows. For broader interoperability, a robust API with token-based authentication allows full customization and integration with existing enterprise or inspection management systems.

To meet diverse IT requirements, instaNDT supports flexible deployment options including on-premise installations, private cloud, or Software as a Service (SaaS). The platform is DICOMweb™ compliant and supports the standardized DICONDE file format to ensure software-independent data exchange and long-term accessibility.

With instaNDT, DÜRR NDT extends its commitment to innovation in digital NDT inspection workflows — empowering manufacturers and service providers to achieve higher levels of efficiency, traceability, and collaboration in managing inspection data.
