MarSurf3D MS GS-Platform

At the heart of the MarSurf3D concept are two distinct yet complementary platforms—MarSurf3D SX and MarSurf3D GS – each engineered for specific part sizes and operational environments.

MarSurf3D SX: Compact and cost-effective, this platform is designed for workpieces up to 200 mm. With its integrated damping and stable construction, the SX offers high-precision results within a minimal footprint—ideal for laboratories, research facilities, and routine quality control applications. Its design echoes Mahr’s proven confocal systems, providing familiar reliability with enhanced affordability.

MarSurf3D GS: For larger workpieces exceeding 200 mm, the GS platform offers a gantry-style configuration that can be tailored with different axis systems depending on component size and inspection needs. Optional modules—such as an overview camera, point sensor, and protective enclosure—extend functionality. Engineered for 24/7 operation, the GS platform is perfectly suited for inline inspection directly on the production floor, ensuring continuous quality verification.

Five Measuring Heads – Infinite Possibilities

Surface inspection is rarely a one-technology job. Different materials, textures, and geometries call for specific optical techniques. To meet this challenge, the MarSurf3D series offers five interchangeable measuring heads—each optimized for distinct measurement principles. Users can freely combine these with either platform, creating a system tailored to their requirements.

WI – White Light Interferometer: Delivers the highest vertical resolution, capable of detecting surface topographies in the sub-nanometer range.

MS – Multisensor Head: Combines confocal, white light interferometry, and focus variation technologies in a single device. This all-in-one head maximizes flexibility by eliminating changeovers, making it ideal for diverse or fast-changing measurement tasks.

CM – Confocal Head: The dependable all-rounder, offering robust and precise measurement performance for daily use across multiple applications.

CP – 3D Profilometer: Designed for flexibility in quality control, this head provides accurate results even for large and complex parts.

CL – 3D Profilometer: Delivers ultra-fast, high-density surface scans across expansive areas—combining speed with measurement detail.

This modular system architecture ensures that MarSurf3D can adapt seamlessly to new parts, materials, and tolerances—without requiring a full system replacement.
