AESUB Expands 3D Metrology Accessory Portfolio for Faster & More Accurate Scanning

AESUB, a leading innovator in 3D metrology accessories, continues to advance the efficiency and precision of scanning workflows with the introduction of four new products — AESUBdomes, AESUBdice, AESUBframe, and AESUBcards. Each new accessory is designed to simplify scan preparation, improve measurement stability, and deliver consistent, high-quality data acquisition for complex parts and assemblies.

AESUBdomes: Fast and Precise Scan Preparation

The newly launched AESUBdomes provide a practical solution for rapid and reliable preparation of 3D scans, particularly when measuring complex geometries. Constructed from clear, durable plastic, the transparent domes allow users to visually control positioning during setup, ensuring optimal visibility and accuracy during scanning.

Each dome includes a magnetic base and an integrated M4 threaded insert, enabling secure attachment to metallic or custom surfaces. For non-magnetic or uneven materials, the domes feature recesses that can be filled with modeling clay for additional stability.

Up to 19 retro-reflective or highly retro-reflective reference points (available in 6 mm or 3 mm diameters) can be placed on each dome, allowing flexible configuration depending on scanning requirements and ensuring precise reference alignment during measurement.

Advantages at a Glance:

  • Space for up to 19 reference points (Ø 6 mm or 3 mm)
  • Secure attachment via magnet, M4 threaded insert, or modeling clay
  • Quick mounting and easy handling
  • Transparent design for precise positioning and optimal scan results

With AESUBdomes, scan preparation becomes faster, more efficient, and more reliable — a clear step forward in modern 3D metrology.

AESUBdice: Preventing Mix-Ups and Improving Scan Stability

Complementing the AESUBdomes, AESUB introduces AESUBdice — magnetic dice that deliver improved accuracy and reliability in complex scanning environments. Designed to address one of the key challenges in advanced setups — avoiding confusion between identical reference targets — the AESUBdice ensure that each measurement point remains clearly distinguishable to the scanner.

Each die features magnetic contact surfaces for secure placement on metallic bases, and uniquely shaped side and top faces with varying tilt angles. The side faces are angled at –5°, 0°, and +5°, while the top face integrates three additional angles of 3°, 5°, and 10°. These variations give every die an individual geometric profile, ensuring that scanners can easily differentiate between multiple targets and improving the stability of data acquisition.

Currently available in black, a transparent version of AESUBdice is in preparation to further expand user options.

Product Features:

  • Magnetic mounting for precise and stable positioning
  • Three side angles (–5°, 0°, +5°) and three top angles (3°, 5°, 10°)
  • Unique geometries prevent scanner confusion
  • Black version available; transparent version coming soon
  • Enhanced scan stability and accuracy

AESUBframe: Greater Precision Through a Transparent Reference Frame

AESUB’s new AESUBframe represents another leap in precision and repeatability for 3D digitization. The modular frame simplifies the precise scanning of small and medium-sized parts, ensuring reliable part alignment and orientation throughout the scanning process.

What makes the AESUBframe unique is its transparent plastic construction, which is invisible to scanner light. This eliminates unwanted reflections or artifacts, ensuring that scan data remain clean and accurate. Measurement objects can be securely fixed within the frame, and the scanner’s position and orientation can be precisely determined at all times. The result is high reproducibility, minimized measurement errors, and simplified merging of multiple scans into a complete 3D model.

Its modular, lightweight, and rigid design makes the AESUBframe particularly well-suited for the digitization of:

  • Series-produced components
  • Small industrial parts
  • Stamped and milled components
  • Medical components

For enhanced functionality, AESUBdots and AESUBdice can be directly attached to the frame as reference points, allowing for exact positioning and orientation of the scanned object. The AESUBframe is ideal for both stationary laboratory applications and mobile on-site use, and is available in two sizes: for parts up to 200 mm and 300 mm in dimension.

AESUBcards: Structured Reference for Reliable Alignment

Completing the new lineup, AESUB has also introduced AESUBcards, a smart and reusable reference system that simplifies part alignment during scanning. Each card acts as a coded reference, enabling scanners to recognize unique patterns and consistently merge multiple scans with high accuracy.

Every AESUBcard features a distinctive dot pattern, comparable to a “fingerprint,” which allows scanners to identify the card and use it as a stable reference across multiple viewing angles. This is particularly useful in multi-part projects or complex assemblies that require precise registration between individual scans.

Product Details at a Glance:

  • Supplied in sets of 10 cards
  • Card size: 60 x 90 mm
  • Each card features 8 retro-reflective reference points (Ø 3 mm or 6 mm)
  • Highly reflective surfaces ensure excellent scanner detection
  • Reusable design for efficient and structured workflows

AESUBcards are an efficient tool for professional scanning environments, enabling structured, repeatable processes and ensuring consistent data quality across projects.

Driving Productivity and Accuracy in Modern Metrology

With the introduction of AESUBdomes, AESUBdice, AESUBframe, and AESUBcards, AESUB continues to strengthen its position as a technology leader in 3D metrology accessories. Each innovation reflects a deep understanding of the practical challenges metrologists face — from minimizing setup time and avoiding scan artifacts to improving positional stability and reproducibility.

Together, these new solutions provide a comprehensive toolkit for achieving faster, cleaner, and more accurate 3D scans — helping metrology professionals take another step toward seamless, high-precision digital inspection.
