ZEISS Showcase Metrology Solutions Providing Increased Process Reliability

Due to their high level of precision, measurements performed with coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) will be a key part of the smart factory. At the Quality Show in Chicago, USA October 24-26, ZEISS will have two technology areas to show visitors how the measuring lab can be networked intelligently in the future. Booth 1108 will feature ZEISS CMMs, optical machines, and surface and form measurement systems. Booth 601 will illustrate the importance of in-line inspection and process control. The ZEISS learning theater presentation, Quality Measurement Tools for Additive Manufacturing Applications, will be held on the exhibition floor on Wednesday, October 25.

Process control and in-line inspection
SurfMax technology from ZEISS allows users to take your surface inspections to a new level as it guarantees absolute quality – particularly for challenging, shiny surfaces. The latest CT technology from ZEISS, the METROTOM system, allows for measuring and inspecting complete components made of plastic or light metal. Learn about CT systems that can be configured for both manual and automated loading. The ZEISS AIMax digital-optical 3D sensor is the new benchmark in robot-based 3D inline metrology for sheet metal processing and car body construction. See the shopfloor ZEISS DuraMax HTG system with integrated robotic loading. This system has a smaller footprint, a rotary table option and an even higher operating temperature range from +15º C to +40º C.

Optical and optical-contact systems
The ZEISS COMET L3D 2 uses the latest sensor technology and project-oriented software for easy and reliable 3D data capture. With a range of working distances from 45-500 mm, the ZEISS COMET L3D 2 camera ensures problem-free operation. The ZEISS O-SELECT makes the optical measurement of parts easy and reliable. The system’s ISO 10360 compliancy leads the way for traceable and reproducible measurement values. It excels in the inspection of translucent parts, in addition to common punched, turned or formed parts, or injection-molded and laser-cut workpieces. ZEISS O-INSPECT multisensor measuring machines enable users to optimally measure each characteristic – optically or by contact. 2D and 3D characteristics can now be measured on three different sizes with measuring volumes up to 800 x 600 x 300 mm.

Flexible surface and roundness measurement systems
The NEX series of surface and roundness instruments allows both types of measurements to be completed with one system. SURFCOM NEX offers a single hybrid detector to measure surface texture and contour at the same time. RONDCOM NEX offers best-in-class spindle accuracy and allows optional surface roughness measurements in the horizontal, vertical and radial axes.

Data management
ZEISS PiWeb software combines measurement data from multiple systems into graphical part stories, SPC charts, quality documents and dashboards.
