Zeiss Acquire 3D Measurement Services Company

With effect from September 1st 2020, 3D-CT A/S of Denmark has been taken over by Carl Zeiss A/S to become part of ZEISS Nordics.

3D-CT is a measurement services company offering tactile CMM measurement and structured light and CT scanning.

The three founders of 3D-CT, Lars Brøndbjerg, Kim Mortensen and Frank Nielsen, all come from Motorola, where in 2006 they helped to purchase the first CT scanner in Denmark and in the mobile phone industry in general. The scanner was a Carl Zeiss Metrotom 1500.
Lars, Frank and Kim quickly found out how powerful a tool the CT scanner was, so when Motorola closed all facilities in Europe in 2008, it became possible for the three to purchase the CT scanner. Two more Zeiss Metrotom CT scanners were later added to increase measurement capacity.

“We are pleased to be able to hand over our life’s work and are delighted that the company’s future is now secured. Becoming part of Carl Zeiss A / S and ZEISS Nordics feels like the most natural solution,” say the founders of 3D-CT.

The company name, which will change to the ZEISS Quality Excellence Center.

“Becoming part of ZEISS Nordics and ZEISS Industrial Quality Solution will provide access to a larger network of expertise and resources. We are convinced that our many customers will in the future benefit greatly from 3D-CT A / S now becoming part of a large worldwide group.
Together with the rest of the team, we look forward to continuing our mutually beneficial cooperation”
