Editors Message:
A recent review of Metrology News readership statistics exhibited a 40% increase year to-date demonstrating the magazine profile continues to grow significantly within the manufacturing metrology sector. September was another busy month for Metrology News with the publication of more than 50 articles, many of which were associated with new product introductions at the significant EMO metalworking exhibition in Hanover, Germany and demonstrating the metrology sector continues to innovate and introduce new technologically advanced products. One of the most significant new product introductions for Metrology News was the new Fringe Projection Probe from Renishaw that for the 1st time brings structured light scanning and high density point cloud generation to accurate CMM platforms. Another interesting product was the introduction by Hexagon of its Ultrasonic Touch Probe for measuring wall thicknesses of machined component on CNC machining centers. The September Metrology News editorial focus was surface finish and form and published several in-depth articles including; ‘Advanced Wear Analysis’ and ‘Making Wear Visible’.
