The creation of coordinate measuring machine (CMM) inspection programs is one of the most time-consuming tasks of quality management staff. The new MITUTOYO MiCAT Planner allows measuring programs can be generated automatically on the basis of workpiece CAD data within minutes – as opposed to hours or even days before. The software reduces programming efforts in working out part programs for a CMM by up to 90 percent. The software’s automatic measuring program generator saves vast amounts of time and cost.
Mitutoyo Europe has introduced in Germany a new approach for CMM user to access the programming power of MiCAT Planner with the introduction of a Pay-Per-Use initiative. Getting started with MiCAT Planner Pay-Per-Use is easy: Order the starter kit and receive the software, a dongle including ten ‘units’, a translator for CAD data into STEP format and in-depth MiCAT Planner software training. Each unit allows loading one set of CAD data for the generation of measuring programs.
MiCAT Planner automates the generation of measurement programs based on CAD models containing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) information as well as Dimensional Measuring Equipment (DME). When no GD&T information exists, it can be added quickly and easily. MiCAT Planner seamlessly integrates with MCOSMOS-GEOPAK for use with Mitutoyo Coordinate Measurement Machines.
The program allows users to pay only when using MiCAT Planner redeeming only one unit per set of CAD data allowing the generation of various variants of measuring program or the correcting of errors later on at no extra cost. The units are saved on the dongle which is valid for one year. Additional ‘units’ can be added directly from the Mitutoyo webshop.
Users working with Pay-per-use you apply the latest and most powerful version of MiCAT Planner inspection program generator MiCAT. CAD translators for CATIA V5, Siemens NX, CREO (Pro/E) and Solidworks are also; each supporting PMI (Product and Manufacturing Information) data.
Mitutoyo is planning to make the CMM programming Rent-Per-Use initiative available through most of its other European subsidiary operations shortly.
