May 2019 Metrology News Monthly Magazine

Editors Message:
This month’s editorial focus at Metrology News was the Control Exhibition and Big Data. Metrology News certainly had a busy month attending both the Control expo in Stuttgart and the TCT+Rapid expo in Detroit; keeping pace with all of the new product introductions announced over past weeks has been a challenge. This year’s Control expo filled 6 halls and showcased all aspects of metrology technology for industrial manufacturing, rapid prototyping and reverse engineering. The take away from the show for Metrology News was that the very latest metrology grade optical scanners now offer the precision, resolution and ease of use ensuring their further penetration across all but the most precise measurement applications. We have reported the latest financial results of the larger publicly traded metrology equipment suppliers over past weeks, most continue to exhibit growth as the market uptake of their latest technology offerings continues to grow. However, a potential black cloud appears to be looming over the industry, with ‘trade wars’, political uncertainties and the automotive industry transitioning to EV’s all weighing on future business predictions.  For sure the investment of companies, big and small, in the development of new equipment solutions continues at a relentless pace – we showcase many of these new product introduction in this month’s Newsletter.
