When it comes to optimizing production processes, professionally evaluated measuring results have become essential. This is where the software systems of the globally operating 3D metrology specialist GOM come into play. A new online training center helps users to better understand and use the software they work with. Furthermore, new eLearning courses allow users to participate in advanced training independent of time and place and supplement the classroom seminars.
Optical 3D metrology is the core competence of GOM, including industrial 3D coordinate measuring systems, 3D computed tomography and 3D testing. In addition to machines and systems for manual and automated 3D digitization, the company’s portfolio also includes evaluation software, training and professional support.
The GOM Software 2019 was developed in line with customer requirements and includes a whole range of new features this year, especially for industry-specific applications. Particularly in the virtual measuring room (VMR), the new “Smart Teach” function supports users even more effectively in automated measurement. When changes are made in the CAD data, for example, the measurement positions are automatically updated.
Another highlight is Virtual Clamping, a world first that virtually simulates the clamping of parts. Instead of clamping components in complex fixtures as it was necessary before, the new GOM software module makes it possible to compute the clamped state of the part using the data of the real part in free state. The measuring data obtained by FEM-based calculations are exactly comparable with the results of the part when clamped physically.
Furthermore, the analysis of surface defects was improved in the ATOS Professional, GOM Inspect and GOM Inspect Professional software packages. Sheet metal and plastic parts, for example, can now be checked against a master part to identify surface defects more easily.
The company is now offering trial licenses to demonstrate the new features of GOM Inspect Professional to those persons who already use the free GOM Inspect software. Interested users have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the advantages of the Professional version free of charge for 30 days without any contractual obligations. This offer will in future also apply to the GOM Correlate software for materials and motion analysis.
In the new GOM Training Center, interested users can find tutorials and sample data sets for the current software version. Furthermore, the company is breaking new ground to offer advanced training that goes beyond the regular classroom seminars. The platform supplements the existing, comprehensive range of training courses with innovative teaching and learning methods. At training.gom.com, interested persons can inform themselves about the measuring systems and the different evaluation software and thus find out which system can best solve their own testing requirements. Training on special software packages such as GOM Inspect Professional and GOM Correlate Professional is also available.
