Renishaw launch Improved Surface Finish Measurement Probe

Renishaw has launched at the Control 2017 Expo in Stuttgart a new, improved surface finish measurement probe for use with Renishaw’s REVO 5-axis measurement system on Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). The new surface finish measurement SFP2 probe allows users of the Renishaw multi-sensor REVO system to fully integrate surface finish measurement and dimensional inspection on a single CMM, giving unrivaled advantages over traditional measurement methods requiring a separate process.

The SFP2 system consists of the probe and a range of modules. SFP2 is automatically interchangeable with all other probe options available for REVO – touch-trigger, high-speed tactile scanning and non-contact vision measurement. Data from multiple sensors is automatically referenced to a common datum.

Surface finish measurement has traditionally required the use of the hand‑held sensors or the part to be moved onto a dedicated measuring machine. The REVO multi-sensor system changes all this; you can switch between scanning and surface finish measurement as you do with other probe types, and the surface finish analysis becomes part of a single measurement report.
